Social Media Best Practices – Tab C (Pinterest)


Best Practices

  • Pin 5-15 items per day
  • Take advantage of ds-connex Pinterest resource boards on the Buddy Walk® and other Down Syndrome Walks by accepting our invitations to add you as a group pinner – this automatically populates your Pinterest profile with these eight (and more coming soon) thriving boards
  • Create searchable captions for each pin, use keywords!
  • Give credit to the original source either by pinning directly from them or writing their name in the caption
  • Use boards to segment audience (Buddy Walk®, DSA, Physical Therapy, Inspiration, etc.)
  • Use images that are proportionate rectangles of 4X6, which converts to 400 pixels X 600 pixels, to prevent images from being cut off
  • When uploading a photo:
    • Click on the pinned image → edit → paste www.mywebsite.org
    • Without completing this step, the image will have nowhere to link back to and will not provide referrals to the website
  • Add descriptions to the top of each board
  • Follow pinners with similar content and a high number of followers, repin their content regularly
  • Reward followers by analyzing what boards they follow and pin more to those boards

Best Times to Post Content

  • Post between 2:00PM-4:00PM, and 8:00PM-1:00AM
  • Pinterest peak time: Saturday morning
  • Avoid posting between 5:00PM and 7:00PM
